#3&4 Cassettes 4B/5A/5B

The holidays are almost upon us and I know that you dread the Christmas break and the boredom that comes with it. Fear not! I´m going to help you out with a couple of tasks! Consider this my Christmas gift to you guys (it´s non-refundable – you cannot return it!).

You are going to write two blog posts (deadline for both: January 7th, 8pm).

But here´s the best part: You can decide which two of the three chapters you want to pick and you are relatively free to pick your own approaches to those posts. Do you want to comment on Hannah´s reason? Good, do that. You want to bash Ryan? Fine with me! You have come up with your own version of Soul Alone? Perfect.

Here are a couple of suggestions for those of you who need some guidance:

4B: see above

5A: Discuss the significance of this chapter for both Clay and Hannah.

5B:

  1. Keeping count, this would be Hannah´s reason number 10 (or 9?!). Comment on the significance of this reason for Hannah.
  2. Discuss who is to blame for what happens to Jessica.

That´s it! Enjoy your holidays (I know you will now – thanks to my help. I am too kind, I know!)!

Best regards,
Bend

#2 Cassette 2 side B

Good morning boys and girls,

Mr. Benden here.  Neither live, nor in stereo ;)

Without further ado, here are your tasks/guidelines for your next blog, which is due Friday at 8pm. Remember that there is time for writing the blog in class on Friday. Pick one of the “tasks”. Here we go:

  1. Discuss Clay´s reaction. Would you have reacted in the same way? Would you have done things differently?
  2. Comment on Tyler´s behavior. What would you like to say to him?
  3. Is there something else you would really like to comment on/write about, e.g. Hannah´s reason/reaction? Feel free to do so!

As always, if you have any questions whatsoever, just contact me and I´ll be happy to help you out.
Have a nice day.

#1 Cassette 1 side B

Hey everyone,
I just want to make sure that absolutely everybody knows what to do for their first blog post. So here we go:

  1. In groups of three, set up your own blog and send me the address.
  2. Write your first blog post. If you need some more information on how to write a blog post, have a look at the pages 40-41 and 47 in your textbook.

Remember that your blog post is not a summary of cassette 1B! It is way more than that. It is rather some kind of personal comment that offers you the opportunity to express and discuss your feelings and views on certain subjects, in our case now on cassette 1 side B in Thirteen Reasons Why. And since it is always hard to find a starting point, I´ll offer you three different “approaches” that you can use as guidelines (pick ONE – but don´t just answer the “question”! Keep in mind that a blog post typically features an interesting headline, etc.):

  1. Comment on Hannah´s “second reason”. Can you understand her anger/humiliation?
  2. Comment on Alex´s behavior. Can you comprehend his actions?
  3. Is there something else in that chapter that you would really like to discuss/write about? Feel free to do so.

If you have any questions, just contact me.
